Bio

Born in 1983 in Cernusco sul Naviglio, in the Milanese hinterland, Dottori held his first solo show, Luoghicomuni, in 2003. In 2006 he graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and held the Villa Fiorita exhibition, dedicated to the milanese station of the same name. In 2007 he won the Jury's prize at the “GhigginiArte Award”, Ghiggini Gallery 1822, Varese.
As soon as he graduated, he immediately joined his artistic work and his profession as a teacher, which led him to Rome from 2008 to 2012, and from 2017 to the State school. The laboratory activity and the creativity of the students are the heart of his teaching: together with them, Dottori has built exhibitions, sets and installations, participated in competitions and won prizes at the provincial level (BergamoScience, 2017). Artistic work and teaching activity have always integrated each other, as he uses to say: “Teaching is essential for my artistic work: when I’m not committed to my students, nothing good can happen in the studio, and viceversa; on the other hand, when good things happen in the studio, I always have something to teach them, a new experience to share. Plus, teaching is stimulating, and keeps you grounded”.
In 2010 Skylight was born, a large pictorial installation dedicated to the Central Station of Milan, exhibited in the Lombard capital and in the collective "Happy Days at Casa Testori", Novate Milanese (MI).
The Shooting Stars cycle (Milan, 2011) is dedicated to the city immersed in the night, as well as the Nightswimming cycle (Como, 2012) and the Daysleeper cycle (2013), exhibited in Milan at Lombardy Palace.
In 2015 he exhibited, at the Spinning Mill in Martinengo (BG) and subsequently at the Pirelli Palace and the Congress Center in Bergamo, Costellazione Provvisoria (Provisional Constellation), a cycle of large-scale works dedicated to the cities devastated by the wars of the past and of present day.
In the same year, two of his other large-scale works were chosen by the Lombardy Region as a permanent installation at the entrance to the presidential palace, due to their high symbolic value: two night landscapes of Milan are seen from the two skyscrapers seat of the Lombard government, which "watch over" the city that extends below them to the horizon.
In 2016 he created Sulla Soglia (On the Threshold), a pictorial installation created specifically for the Ex Prisons of Edolo (BS), putting his painting in dialogue with the history and memory of a unique and evocative place.
From 2018 he started an activity as a set designer for theater companies and from 2020 he collaborates steadily with professional actors as a scene photographer and for the creation of graphics, real and digital sets and publishing of books for which he has taken care of illustrations and layout.
Currently his work is focusing on the mountains, with their evocative drawings of rocks and snow. Lives and works in Bergamo, Italy.
